Retreats
As yoga teachers, retreats provide an ideal opportunity to explore more closely how the many distractions of our daily life impact our practice. We may be aware that our commitments to work and family take time away from our personal practice, but often we are unaware of the ways in which we habitually choose to use the distractions of daily routine, to further distance ourselves from the intimacy of life. Being on retreat allows us to take time to become aware of these unconscious patterns of distancing that create separation between ourselves, and our experience.
For many teachers, being able to afford the time and money for study, is a fine balance. Being on retreat not only gives us dedicated time in a conducive environment for practice, it also nourishes us by eliminating many of the substances that alter our perceptions. In all of our retreats we provide a whole foods diet, free of sugar, caffeine, alcohol, and meat allowing for clearer perception to surface.
Our retreats are a combination of Yin yoga practice and whole foods nourishment which emphasize the relationship we have with the foods we eat. Nourishment begins long before the foods we eat enter our mouths. Often the food choices we make are driven by deeper unmet needs, and the use of the Yin yoga practice as a mindfulness tool, allows us to explore the relationship we have with ourselves, through mindful nourishment.
Teachers need not have any experience in the Yin practice to attend retreats. Participants will come away with a basic understanding of the mindfulness foundation inherent in the Yin practice, which can then be applied to all aspects of practice.
