Dear God, I Know I’m A Bloody Mess And…….
One day you wake up and realize that your life is a bloody mess. What’s the first thing you do?
Try to ‘make’ it all go away? Resist what is and pretend that it’s not quite as bad as it seems? Or do you pray to God and ask that your life be some other way than it actually is? We’ve all been there before and to think that you are alone in your experience is inaccurate. Besides, it will only lead to self-judgement, which is a total waste of time and energy on your part. So let’s start by agreeing to not go there at all, shall we?
Second, of the three options I listed above it’s quite possible that you might choose something different but these are pretty common responses to the awakening reality that our lives have somehow become a complete and utter mess. Now remember, don’t be tempted to go down self-blame lane here, no matter how justifiable it may seem. It won’t do you any good anyway, and it certainly won’t solve any of your problems. Trust me on that one.
Forcing your will upon the external reality of your life doesn’t do much good either and makes for you being a not very nice person to be around. So if you want to keep the people you love in your life, I don’t recommend that path.
And resistance, well it has some benefits to offer in that it’s a guide of sorts showing you where you’re being asked to let go and let God, The Divine, Spirit guide you. The problem with that is that you usually don’t want to let go, or may not know how to let go, which is precisely why your life is a bloody mess in the first place!
If you need some reinforcements to help you with the letting go part, you can listen to this podcast.
And because we can all use the reminder that letting go is never a bad idea, this might also help. You can write it down and post on your fridge, your bathroom mirror or your office wall. It’s a short poem, by an old friend of mine, and I adore it. I hope you will too. (For the prayer you really do need to ask to be answered, keep scrolling.)
And now we come to the real issue at hand. Praying to God to ask that your life be different than it is. Here’s my advice on that one.
The Universe, aka God, is always working for your highest good — always. So when you find that your life has gone terribly awry, there IS a reason for it. Instead of asking that your life be different, the prayer that you are being guided to reach for, to use, to hold onto is to ask that YOU learn how to be different.
It’s not your life that’s the problem, it’s the person living it!
So your prayer might sound something like this instead;
Dear God, please give me the strength to know how to handle the mess of my life that I have created. I am willing to change. I am willing to learn how to be the person that can live the larger life that I dream of. And I am willing to be led by you. Thank you.
And then, you wait. You don’t force, struggle or resist. You just wait in the silence that is always present until your inner guide, the teacher within tells you, it is time to act. When you wake up and realize that your life is a mess, the greatest gift is often the awareness that you are being asked to STOP, SIT + LISTEN.
The support you so desperately want, but are blind to seeing in your life, is ALWAYS there for you. It is up to you become the receptive vessel that can hold the velocity of energy that Spirit wants you to express in the world through your work, your relationships and your life.
Waking up to the reality of your life exactly as it is, is what it means to WAKE UP to the truth that you are more than you are allowing yourself to be.
The Universe is always seeking it’s own greater good through you. There is never a time that the Divine energy of God is not rushing to you, through you and into your life.
There is only the question of how prepared you are to receive it!
