The Best Spiritual Book I’ve Ever Read and Why I Highly Recommend You Read It

Happy Earth Day!

I honoured earth day this morning by weeding the garden after last nights rain and I’m busy spending the afternoon prepping for the start of The Dream Journey Mastermind beginning Monday, May 15th. I’m bouncing off the walls excited to be leading this transformational 6 month experience because honestly, its something I wanted to do for years now.

But like many of our best laid plans, things didn’t go quite the way that I expected them to. Sound familiar?

Every growth cycle has 4 predicable stages that a dream or desire must go through to be realized. Like you’ve had to do yourself many times before I’m sure, I had to spend a lot of time in the fourth stage of the process which I call, our descent into the underworld.

But there’s a few things that you may not know about the underworld.

One – this is the place that we actually spend most of our time, if we don’t know how the growth process actually works.

Two – no one else can go through this stage of the process for you but that doesn’t mean that you have to go through it alone, or that you should try to.

Three – not every dream or desire is meant to be made manifest and that’s what we need to learn when we descend into the underworld.

During this stage of the growth process we become overwhelmed with feelings of confusion, self-doubt and indecision. We second guess ourselves at every turn, which makes it impossible to commit to any decision at all. And we lose the confidence that we know we need – and desperately want – so we can realize the dreams that are still inside of us.

So you might be thinking to yourself, “Really, I didn’t know that other people were feeling the same way and experiencing what I have as well?” Rest assured, we’ve all been there at some time or another in our lives.

And as we get older, the sense of urgency to BE the person that we’ve always dreamed we would one day become, grows stronger. But when we’re in the underworld, especially if we’re down there on our own and we don’t know that this is precisely the time when we need support the most, we begin to see ourselves NOT as the woman that we dream we’ll one day become, but as the woman who FAILED to become what she dreamed she could be.

This incredibly painful for us and it’s compounded by the ego driven voices in our head that tell us that everyone around us, see us as a failure too! When I moved here to Tennessee 19 months ago, I went deep into the underworld. I fell out of frequency with the version of myself that I dreamed I could be because I didn’t who I dreamed I could be anymore.

I won’t lie, it’s been a difficult transition for me and for Jon but there were many gifts that I claimed during my descent, only one of which was a clear knowing of who I’m meant to be next. Among other gifts is the ability to map out this stage of the journey for others, having gone through it myself with the conscious awareness of what was happening, why and how I got there in the first place.

The challenge for us, is that while we all end up in the underworld at some point, we want to travel through this stage of the growth process with conscious awareness. And this is where most of us fail. You see, one of the key markers of being in the underworld is being in resistance, and I know a lot about that too! lol

On a very basic level, resistance is our reluctance to receive the larger life that’s waiting for us. (Yes, you can steal that shit and share the hell out of it)

Until we give up our resistance, we’re destined to remain in the underworld of illusions that the ego mind uses to keep us stuck, disempowered, confused and second guessing ourselves. So what are you supposed to do to get through it alive? In short, you get help! And there’s a lot of forms that help can take.

Here’s a few of things I’ve done, and highly recommend you do for yourself as well, to make your journey as fast and easy as possible.

1. Find someone that’s on a similar journey and ask them to be your buddy and to help hold you accountable to BEING the person you really want to be. Jon does this quite well for me but it took conscious effort on both our parts to get to where we are today.

2. Join a Mastermind or hire a coach so you have at least ONE person in your life who can SEE you as the woman that you dream you are becoming. I cannot stress how vitally important this, especially when you’re feeling like a failure and think everyone else sees you that way too. Olympic athletes don’t get where they are alone and your dreams aren’t likely to happen as quickly (or as easily) if you try going it alone. Sometimes, all we need is for someone else to give us permission to get the support we know we need and want. Consider this me giving you permission.

If you’re curious about what a Mastermind can offer you, email me at to let me know and we can set up a time to find out if The Dream Journey Mastermind would be the best type of support you for at this stage in your journey.

3. And lastly, keep your mind focused on breaking through your resistance and persevere with finding clarity. Clarity is the key to getting unstuck because as a meaning driven woman, the only thing that motivates you is knowing what you want and why it matters that you get it.

I spent the winter studying A Course in Miracles, which I can say hands down is the best spiritual book I’ve ever read. And I’ve read a fuck of lot of spiritual books!

Here’s why I say that –

This book has been around for over 40 years and marks an opening in human consciousness that has already happened — and yet, while many have heard of it, very few have actually read it and done the 365 days of workbook exercises.

For those who have though, they KNOW just how powerful it is and they’ve gone on to create their own books that reference the Course as a framework. Some examples are Marianne Williamson’s A Return Love and Divine Compensation as well as Barbara Stanny’s Sacred Success.

I’m only on day 105 myself and I’m still amazed at what a powerful teaching this is. I’ve read the entire text and teachers manual numerous times and I have tabs throughout to remind me of the huge shifts in my awareness that happened when I read a particular passage.

What most people do though is they pick it up and see that it talks about God and they MAKE THE DECISION that they’re not interested, or rather available, to receive the teaching that it has to offer. One of the main teachings the Course offers is that all that is required of any of us is our WILLINGNESS to see ourselves in a different way.

But when we’re in the underworld, and some of us remain there for most of our lives unfortunately, we’re so caught in our own resistance to receiving the life we dream of that we can’t even open our minds to a new way of thinking. This is why we need help!

This is what the Course has to offer. It’s a new system of thought, not unlike most of what you’ve read about God. (called by whatever name you prefer) What’s different about the Course is that it systemically breaks down your old thought system as it slowly replaces it with a new one. One which is seen through the eyes of love, or God – by whatever name you wish to call it.

Also, what you may not know is that the Course was actually channeled. I plan to do a podcast about how the Course came into being for you so can learn more about it and decide for yourself if it’s for you. I’ll be sure to share it with you once it’s live and in the meantime, you can check out the full series of podcasts here.

In service,
